So have brought a pair of ebay, I went for the 170mm travel as I thought that they would be a little shorted so the geometry would not be messed up. I have now looked at the Marzocchi web site a little further and noticed the 200mm and 170mm are the same overall length !

So will have to wait until they turn up and then try and them and if they are to long overall then get them back on Ebay. I must have had a Justin moment.

here is a link to the forks I have brought (link)

Cheers Glyn, I feel this can only go badly... It will feel like I am ridding long on a chopper !!!

But on a positive side, if the slope is 45 degress the bike will feel flat and level.

Well I am going to see what they are like when they turn up, if no good then back on ebay. But do have my eye on a Spec Big Hit frame and a Scott High Octane frame. But both of these are 200m and over so then the forks will be to small....cant seem to win.

I do not want a full on DH bike, i want to turn my Ransom in to a bike that I can change around according to where I am going to ride it....alps or a fun bike for trail in the UK.

cant only wait and see what they are llike when they turn up

No not hear yet emailed the guy and he said he posted them on Wed so may be tomorrow. So then need to decide what the next step is....
I had planned to go and look at a Scott High Octane frame tonight, but think I will give this a miss now until I see what they are like on the Ransom. When I look at some (not all) DH frame they dont look as solid around the head tube as the ransom, so might give it a go on that frame first.

If they do fit and work out ok then I feel a day of testing is needed !!! may be Cwm Carn

So the 888's tuned up yesterday and I fitted them last night. I cant believe they are in such good condition for £103, hardly a mark on them

So messured from the ground to the top of the headtube with old Fox 36's in place and wheel still on, it was 37.5 inch's, then changed them over to the 888's and the hight was 38 inches. So hardly any difference, have decided that these will stay on the Ransom for now.

The only problem is the brake hose is now not long enough by about 1 inch. So will try and get that shorted so we can do and have a downhill day asap.
