Ok, so this is a conversation that we had on Sunday because it seems the width of 2.3 tyres very so much. I have done a little reading on this and it seems the 2.3 is the width of the overall tyre and includes the tread.

So the casing of the tyre can be allot smaller than another 2.3 tyre, but the knobbles might make it up to a 2.3. But this size is not set in stone and can be hugely different between different manufactures.

So now you know...

glad you cleared that up!! Basically it depends on tyre and manufacturer-try before you buy!!!
