I was chatting to a local at the FOD who said that all the best XC trails are at Parkend. The trails being "Dowies" & "Dr Johns"
There seems to be a fair bit of info on the net so might be worth researching more. One has a 2 mile downhill section!

Id certainly be up for bit of exploring.

- The secret to mountain biking is pretty simple. The slower you go the more likely it is you’ll crash.
- No one gets hurt in the air
- There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

The Mendips can get very boggy on the top (by beacons batch and the little statue on the top) but I think the MBUK route avoids a lot of that. There is a bit of road on the route too but it looks like a good 'un

in this months mbuk is a 32k mendip ride. Could be worth ia first run as its close (well for me), not too long and it will test that our old legs are still up for it before doing something a wee bit more epic
How hard can it be?

I'd be well up for an old school xc ride as it not something that I do very often, I know nothing about lecky but I've heard the Quantocks are very good and are meant to drain well. I've got loads of old mbr's hanging about which will have lots of these type of routes in there esp. around Quantocks, Exmoor and Mendips..

Handsome looking devil that SatNav though ain't he..........

Leckhamption could well be worth a look for XC stuff. Also, me and my bruv did some riding around the Birdlip/Cranham area just down the road a couple of years back and reckon I could just about piece a route together. Was some really nice stuff up there but the only issue is that I think the local council have banned biking for a lot of it, so not sure how much of it can be legally ridden now. There is however an agreement in place for a designated route that could be worth a look:

Alternatively, a bit further afield I know, but surely we need to give the Quantocks a go? All the reviews I've read absolutely rave about the place. Loads of different Combes to choose from and can make your own route up if you fancy but loads suggested on various forums. What do ya reackon?

Not really, it would be a bit of suck it and see.

There are some gpx routes here but they look a bit long.
